choir tours
We have made four foreign tours: to Brittany in 1995, to Germany (Göttingen) in 1999, Norway and Sweden in 2002 and France in 2010. We have performed several times with the Orchester Göttinger Musikfreunde both here and in Göttingen, some of the concerts forming part of major twin-town celebrations.
The choir's most recent tour was to Cheltenham's twin town Annecy, in the French Alps, which took place from 31st May to 4th June 2010. There we performed two concerts, the first at eglise Saint Maurice, Annecy and the second at eglise Saint Jean Baptiste, in the Alpine resort of Megève. The music included Faure's Requiem and Cantique de Jean Racine as well as music by 20th century English composers. The choir was conducted by John Wright and accompanied on the organ by Fiona Brown. Karen Jones sang 'Pie Jesu' in the Requiem. After the concert in Megève, the local newspaper reported: "La chorale de Charlton Kings a fait un triomphe à l'église".
